Dove Harbor

About Us

Since 1993, Dove Harbor has provided shelter and safety for over 190 women and women with children who want to change the way they live life and to make a positive future for their family. Dove Harbor is not an emergency shelter, but rather a transitional residential program that provides women a path out of unhealthy situations.

While operating under the spiritual and financial covering of Madison Park Church of God, the Harbor's Advisory Board includes representatives from many different local church congregations.

Up to 10 families at a time can find shelter and support at Dove Harbor The residents share a living room and kitchen which allows them a sense of community; they have a private, secured bedroom/living space and bathroom which allows for individual living space.

Dove Harbor's intensive six-month program includes:

  • Weekly Individual Case Management meeting
  • Weekly Bible Study
  • Weekly Interpersonal Group
  • Weekly Life Skills Group

Changing lives isn't cheap. On average, housing one family at Dove Harbor for six months requires $7000, or $40 a day. And because the housing program is based on Biblical and Christian values, Dove Harbor is ineligible for Federal funding. The Harbor is able to continue its vital work through the generosity of many different funding sources, including:

  • 50% from Individuals/Families
  • 18% from Fund Raising Events
  • 17% from Madison Park Church of God
  • 7% from Resident Fees
  • 6% from Supporting Churches
  • 2% from Civic Groups and Business

Dove Harbor is audited annually by an independent accounting firm.
